Charlotte's quilt has arrived safely and it is absolutely gorgeous. If only I had filmed her unwrapping the quilt to show you her expression on her face. She absolutely loves it. Big thumbs up from this Princess. Thankyou Diana and the lovely team for your time and effort to make this beautiful quilt. This will be treasured forever!

Biography

Charlotte hasn't had a lot of contact with any friends since birth. She was born a healthy gorgeous girl and no signs of sickness. Her first birthday, we were preparing to celebrate with family. But covid lockdown cancelled this. Her 2nd birthday, was spent camping an Cania Gorge. Charlotte loves camping with her cousins. Charlotte's 3rd Birthday, we took her to Australia Zoo as she absolutely loves animals. This was going to be a traditional thing for many birthdays to come on her birthdays. But little did we know, this would be the first and last visit to the zoo in a while. Late August 2022, Charlotte was screaming in the middle of the night with leg and stomach pain. I just assumed it would be growing pain, and gave her some panadol. The next morning she woke, unable to walk. I had to carry a 3.5 yr old from the bed room to the kitchen for breakfast. Things weren't improving during the day, so we took her to emergency at our local hospital, where we waited 4 hours to be seen by a doctor. Of course the covid drama was still ongoing. They did a few checks with leg movements etc. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Did a covid test, and advised it was positive and sent us home. No blood test were carried out. Advised us it's normal for leg and stomach pain with covid. Next couple of weeks passed and Charlotte was still complaining of leg and tummy pain. She also was looking lethargic and pale. Also having bruises on her arms, which was very strange. She was only going to my mum and dads house during the week while I was working full time. We took her to our gp and he sent us to get blood tests that day. Later that night (12.30am) we received a knock on the door from the police for a welfare check and advised our gp had been trying to get in contact with us to go to emergency for further testing. Charlotte required a blood transfusion and it was confirmed she had leukemia. Later that morning, we were on LifeFlight helicopter to QCH Hospital for invasive chemo treatments for the next 6 months. Was such a shock. Happened so fast. 2023 was pretty scary. She spent 10 nights in hospital from her birthday, through to Easter. 4 nights in local hospital with temps and breathing issues. Than transferred to Brisbane with RFDS for further testing as to what was causing the temps and rapid breathing. Fast forward 15 months, Charlotte is now going through maintenance chemo, which is oral chemo until Jan 2025. And 12 months visits to QCH for lumbar punctures and chemo through her port. She has been so brave through out the whole journey. Always smiling. Our little Princess Warrior!
